Brendan & Jenna's Apartment

A cosy open-plan lounge/kitchen; small and cluttered, but neat and homely. Curtains drawn, lighting dimmed. A television on in the background...

Jenna and Jake were sprawled out on the small sofa when Brendan strolled into the lounge.  Jenna was lying half on top of Jake; he had his arm wrapped around her shoulders.
"Hi hun!" Jenna cried, turning her head to smile at Brendan.
"Hey Jen.  You ok?"
"Fab.  How come you didn't call in after work?"
"Oh, yeah.  I went straight up to Anne-Marie's place... She wanted to show me something."
"What?"
"Oh, nothing interesting."
Brendan wandered into the kitchen area and opened the fridge.  Jenna turned her attention back onto the television.  Jake shuffled off the sofa and limped into the kitchen - his leg had gone to sleep, on account of Jenna resting most of her body weight on it.
"There's a few slices of pizza left over," Jake said to Brendan.
Brendan smiled at him, "Thanks.  But I'm not hungry."
"What happened?" Jake asked in a whisper.  He glanced back into the lounge to check that Jenna wasn't listening, "Ramone came into the gym earlier... he said Christian had called the team together... Anne-Marie seemed pretty excited..."
"It was nothing," Brendan said.
"Right."
Brendan noticed Jake's frustration.  "Really, Jake.  It wasn't a big deal."
"I just wondered if it had something to do with my parents?"
"No, nothing like that."
"Right."
Brendan touched his elbow, "Jake, I know it's frustrating for you, being on the edge of all this..."
"I'm used to it by now.  My parents are Iunctus; it comes with the territory.  Even if they are complete bastards."
"They're not that bad Jake.  They were only trying to protect their family-"
"You were tortured because of them!  And they tried to kill Jenna!"
"I was tortured because I was stupid.  Nobody forced me to go to Russia and comfront Sadie."
"I hate them," Jake's face scrunched up into an angry ball, "I'll never forgive them... but still, I can't help wondering where they are... whether they're ok..."
Brendan smiled, kindly, "I know.  That's only natural.  They're still your parents after all."
Jenna called out from the lounge, "Come on!  It's about to start!"
"There's a movie on tv." Jake said, "Casino.  I've seen it before.  But it's ok.  You in?"
"Sure.  I'll just grab a beer."
Jake ambled back into the lounge and slide back onto the sofa underneath Jenna.  Brendan grabbed a beer out of the fridge and flipped the top off.  He took a swig as he glided into the lounge.
Outside, rain was lashing against the window; a storm was closing in.
