St Mary's Street, Cardiff
7:38 p.m. A dreary street. Rainy skies. People bustling along the pavement, sheltering under umbrellas.

The Range Rover turned into St Mary’s street, opposite the castle.
“That’s them!” Pascal said, over the loudspeaker of Ramone’s phone.
Anne-Marie’s eyes were darting all over the street. “Where?”
“On your left. You’re going past them... now.”
Tom and Dick were walking along the pavement. Neither had an umbrella, so they were both getting gradually soaked by the downpour.
“Which one is which again?” Brendan asked.
“The scruffy guy with the dog is Tom,” Anne-Marie said, staring at the men through the window, “the younger guy is Dick.”
“And Dick is the one who’s actually going to...”
“Yes, though of course he currently has no idea what he is about to do.”
Brendan still looked unconvinced. There was still a hint of mockery in his voice, but his thoughtful expression said that he was rethinking his doubts.
“How long is left?” Ramone asked.
“Six minutes.” Pascal answered.
“What are you thinking, Pascal?” Brendan asked.
“I think they’re walking to the train station. I think they’ll interact with Harri there.”
Ramone turned to Brendan with a faint grin of satisfaction.
Brendan shrugged at him, “Ok, they’re here... doesn’t prove anything yet.”
“What’s the plan?” Anne-Marie asked.
“Do as we discussed,” Pascal said, “Brendan, you get out and follow them on foot. Anne-Marie and Ramone, you carry on to the station and locate Harri. Her train is running on time. She’ll be arriving in two minutes.”
Ramone pulled over and Brendan jumped out, into the drizzling rain.
The Range Rover took of immediately, heading up the street, towards the train station.
Brendan was only wearing a t-shirt. Almost immediately he was wet through, and he was attracting strange looks. Not good.
He started walking slowly up the street, waiting for Tom and Dick to overtake him.
His Bluetooth earpiece started buzzing in his pocket. He pulled it out and pushed it into his ear.
“Can you hear me, Brendan?” Pascal asked.
As usual, the voice was too loud for Brendan’s sensitive hearing. He winced and quickly turned the volume down to minimum.
“Yes,” he mumbled, “I can hear you.”
“I’m watching you,” Pascal said.
Glancing up, Brendan saw numerous CCTV cameras dotted around the buildings on either side of the road. “I expect you’ve got a good view?” he said, "You really must show me how you hijack the signal from these things one day.”
“They’re just behind you,” Pascal said, “Overtaking you in five... four... three... two...”
Brendan glanced sideways as the two young men overtook him.
Tom’s dog growled at Brendan. Tom pulled roughly at the short lead tied around the mutt’s neck.
Brendan slowed his pace to a crawl, allowing the two men to get a few paces ahead.
“Geez,” he said, “That Tom is vile. I could sense his evil from a mile away.”
“It’s not Tom that we have to worry about,” Pascal said, “Dick is the one who actually passes the negative energy on to Harri.”
Brendan’s face creased up, thoughtfully, “I’d never have seen that. Dick’s energy feels ok to me... nice even.”
“Trust me,” Pascal said, “I’m watching him on the Navitas; he’s evil.”
Ramone’s voice suddenly joined the conversation, “Ok guys, we’re pulling up in the station car park now.”
“Nothing like cutting it fine,” Pascal said, “Harri just got off the train. She’s heading into the station building now.”
