Brendan leads a double-life. He’s a qualified medical doctor, and in the day he assumes his ‘Dr Rose’ persona – he works at the local hospital; he waxes his hair down; he wears tidy suits; he blends in; he meets his sister Jenna for lunch... In the evening, he relaxes into his natural ‘Brendan’ persona – he’s a Iunctus; he spends his nights in the mansion house in the woods (‘The Leys’); he embraces his supernatural speed and strength...
Like all Iunctus, Brendan has perpetual youth and immense personal beauty. His charm and boyish good-looks attract a lot of (unwanted) female attention, especially at the hospital where he works.
Brendan has two homes: An apartment in town (which he shares with his sister, Jenna), and of course, the mansion in the woods, ‘The Leys’ (which he shares with the other Iunctus).
He’s never told Jenna the truth about his ‘other life’; he hides his gifts from her, just as he hides them from everyone else. His cover-story is based around a fictitious relationship with Anne-Marie – another Iunctus who lives at ‘The Leys’ – which provides a convenient excuse for him to spend every night at the huge house in the woods. His relationship with Anne-Marie is a lie; albeit one which has ever teetered on the edge of truth.
